« Why don’t you just make one big world instead of three small ones? »
My friend looked at me with that expression people have when they discover you collect different-colored paperclips.
Because I realized something: solo players aren’t all the same. Some want to slash goblins. Others want floating islands. Others dream of lasers in space.
So I made three pockets. Three formats. Three moods.
🏰 Mythoria: The Classic
You’re a reluctant hero, in an abandoned village that smells of sulfur
For you if:
- You grew up with Zelda and still think green is the best tunic color
- You find « rusty sword » has romantic charm
- You like « dark fantasy » but not so much you need therapy afterwards
The vibe: Small, dirty, but epic. A 500-square-meter village with more secrets than your apartment.
Shelf life: You’ll die 3 times minimum before beating the Shadow Lord. And you’ll love every death.
What awaits: Talking forests, windy plains that smell of wolf, and a boss who doesn’t seem to appreciate your existence (and shows it).
☁️ The Citadel of Clouds: The Dreamer
You’re a cliff-dweller, in a world where gravity is optional
For you if:
- You watched « Laputa » as a child and never really recovered
- You think flying pirate ships are underused in fiction
- You like exploration but not mud
The vibe: Light, airy, but with that « ancient civilization » background that means there’s probably an apocalyptic weapon buried somewhere. Because we’re not children, you know.
Shelf life: More exploration, less survival. You’re visiting rather than surviving.
What awaits: Suspended ruins, winds that carry secrets, and enemies who fall from very high if you use your environment right.
🚀 Orion Nebula: The Futurist
You’re a space mercenary, your sword is a laser, your dragon is an alien ship
For you if:
- You tried to run a Mass Effect campaign solo and gave up because it was too long
- You think « Space Opera » should be a more present RPG genre
- You want « pew pew » but with simple rules
The vibe: Tired, grunge, but with stars. You’re not a hero, you’re someone in debt who has to do this job.
Shelf life: Short missions, clear objective (find the thing, kill the monster, come back), no deep philosophical metaphor.
What awaits: Abandoned space stations, aliens who don’t speak your language (physically or metaphorically), and problems that the laser doesn’t always solve.
🎲 The Test: Which Are You?
Question 1: You have 30 minutes before your next obligation. You…
- A) Pull out your old D&D bestiary to make up monsters
- B) Look out the window imagining there’s a city in the clouds
- C) Put on Blade Runner (the short version, you have 30 minutes)
Question 2: Your ideal weapon…
- A) A sword with history (and rust)
- B) A grappling hook that grabs clouds
- C) A rifle that goes « engine noise »
Question 3: Your favorite death…
- A) Devoured by something obscure in a crypt
- B) Fell into the void after slipping on a floating island
- C) Asphyxiated in space because you forgot your suit
Mostly A → Lands of Mythoria
Mostly B → The Citadel of Clouds
Mostly C → Orion Nebula
Can’t decide? That’s normal. Get all three. That’s why there’s a bundle.
🤔 The Real Question
Why three worlds instead of one big one?
Because I had three ideas. Because some days you want medieval and other days you want space. Because humans don’t eat the same thing every day (unless you’re my roommate, but that’s another story).
Each Pocket Quest is a mood. A format. An excuse to pull out the dice and pretend to be elsewhere for 30 minutes.
So which one are you today?
